Description of Services
Updated 27.03.20
We have prepared and gathered the different types of description of Services from our members at this page: Building & Landscape, Civil Works and Planning and Client Consultancy.
Description of Services for Building & Landscape 2018 (YBL18) is the latest version of the description of services for building and landscape prepared by the Danish Association of Architectural Firms and the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers.
It is an agreement document, and YBL18 is to be agreed between the parties in order to have effect. YBL18 is a gross list of services, and the specific services in YBL18 that are to apply to the agreement must be specifically mentioned in the agreement between the parties. YBL18 is harmonised with ABR18.
Description of Services: Civil Works and Planning is used as the basis for consultancy in connection civil works and planning.
It is important to remember that the description of services is a gross list of services. Therefore, it is not enough simply to refer to the description of services in clause 3 of the agreement. In clause 4 of the agreement, it is necessary to state the specific services in the description of services that apply to the agreement.
It is recommended that ABR18 is agreed and that the contract is drawn up in the agreement form prepared by the Danish Association of Architectural Firms and the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers (see under ‘Agreement forms: Building’).
Description of Services: Client Consultancy defines the role of the consultant to the client in connection with the different types of contracts, partnering, tenant consultancy, investor consultancy, etc.
Client consultancy agreements require more specific definition of the service in the actual agreement. The scope of client consultancy varies from one case to another, and this description of services requires the parties to define the content and scope of the specific service more precisely in the agreement than is the case for the description of services for Civil Works and Planning.
Therefore, the contract must refer to the relevant clauses in the description of services which have been agreed, but at the same time, the specific service should be further defined in the actual agreement.
It is a condition that ABR18 has been agreed and we recommend that the agreement be drawn up in the agreement form prepared by the Danish Association of Architectural Firms and the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers.
